Admin module is more like a theme packaged as a module than a module per se.

By the way, does the use of admin themes slowdown site’s performance?

No, they won’t slow down the site’s performance.
Performing admin work or using an admin theme certainly affects what *you* see and do, but other users on the public side of the site shouldn’t notice any difference. This is assume you’re on a stable server / using a properly configured database.

Drupal and Powered By Zappos (PBZ)
We are also using Drupal for portions of the individual Powered by Zappos sites. A big proponent for the new PBZs is Domain Access. We have a number of CS/FAQ pages that are consistent across all PBZs, allowing us to publish certain pages to all sites, while at the same time allowing us to create site-specific pages.

Some people like other content management systems like WordPress, Joomla, and Plone. I think Drupal is the best for the task of building search engine friendly content-based Web sites.
Drupal is very powerful and can be used for building large, complex sites.

Adaptivetheme (http://drupal.org/project/adaptivetheme), an advanced starter theme for Drupal 6 and 7, has an admin theme included in the package. It a lightweight, clean and simple theme designed to ease administration tasks. Inspiration was taken from Wordpress. The Drupal 7 version compliments us of the toolbar and shortcuts bar nicely. By default the theme is 100% fluid width, but you can change this in the theme settings (there are many theme settings in Adaptivetheme package).
I built it because I didn’t like the way many admin themes heavily styled the content (such as Root Candy, which is a very slow theme), nor Admin module theme which is nice, but again a whole lot of styles, icons and so on.
