Domain tools become almost a daily tools for most website developers and designer. Hunting for the perfect domain name became a hard work, since most of the catchy, usable and easily remembered domains names are already used. Thankfully - there are many tools which can make this task easier or make the hard work for us. You can instantly search, create and register custom domain names, take care of domain name typo variants, all that in just a few moments with these amazing domain tools.
Here is the list of most useful domain tools, divided by usage:
Advanced Domain Search Tools
- MakeWords - Creates pronounceable names each time you press the Search button
- Dot-o-mator - Just enter a word in the left box, and choose some endings
- BustAName - Type a few words then press enter
- AptDomain - type a few words then press enter. Click on Synonyms link to add similar words from dictionary

The painful thing is that when you put or generate your name in at least some of those sites - this very instant they become parked…

I have heard that this happen with some of those tools; but this will not happen with my domain name site, we do not capture names and make you pay more than you would have if you hadn’t searched for it. So, if you have an idea of a name you want maybe you should try a reputable company first before a generator tool.

Thanks so much! really useful information though I knew all mentioned resources. To recommend you more I’d suggest visiting Domaintools.com, Alexa.com (traffic trends, lots of info!)
also I use simple software called Aversen Domain Checker - my personal choice for great fast bulk domain checking!

Be careful with WHOIS sites and widgets. Not all are reputable. I recommend http://iWhois.com.

Maybe you don’t, but you’re still not a domain name generator, just a registerer as i see at a first glance.
Let me warn you of Domai.nr and DomainsBot especially. They will placehold your domain for a couple of months until it’s free again.

I agree with @kiwus. I’ve had issues with domain search/generators immediately placeholding names I don’t buy when I first see them. (thanks for the warning on those two, BTW)
One of my favorite name generators is NameBoy (www.nameboy.com).
I’ve used whois at domaintools.com & alexa, might have to check out some of the others.

Why hasn’t anybody thought of this… a domain names search tool that shows domain names available for the most popular searched Google queries. Well finally there is such a tool and it is available at http://www.SeeTop10.com. Webmasters are going to love this domain search tool.

Thanks for the list. One more tool that you might find useful is Domain Check Accelerator for ie8 - http://www.rfrog.com/domaincheck
You get instant results regarding a domain on the fly without leaving the page.
You simply highlight the text and know right away whether that domain is available or not. Hope this helps.

Great list of resources! I also recommend http://www.squadhelp.com for finding great domain names. This site uses the “wisdom of crowds” allowing users across the world to submit domain name suggestions. The best suggestion wins a prize that is setup in advance by the contest holder, creating a win win situation for every one.

Why not just goto the URL you want and see if a domain exists. If nothing comes up…use the whois command in unix/linux to see if the site is registered. That will keep others from stealing the domain name out from under you and trying to sell it like real estate.
Just a suggestion.
