Managing a proffesional Drupal company, or any webdesign company is definetely a hard task. There are always many ways where things can go wrong and one day you can realize that your succesfull company that you dreamed about has disappeared in the mixture of unhappy employees, not satisfied clients and a shame from doing things simpy wrong.

Learning from the experiences of others can be very beneficial if you are willing to learn and make changes to the way you do things. There is a saying in my country that a wise man is learning from mistakes of other people, while a fool is learning from its own mistakes. I was lucky enough to be one of the few hundred people that were able to squeeze in to a fully packed room on a DrupalCon San Francisco session where owners, founders and managers of some well established Drupal webdesign studios shared their experiences, things that they did right and things that were completely wrong.

11 Ways to Get Inspired - See What Best Designers Do

05

2009

Inspiration is the fuel for our designer's minds and bodies - although some would say it actually is coffee :) If our inspiration stream dries out, things are slowing down, we don't know how to start, how to continue and how to finish the tasks we are working on. Our mind gets distracted very fast and we just can not focus on what is needed. Or we are just trying to put the colors, shapes and letters to the right place and just feel that it doesn't feel the right way.

So what can we do? We always have two choices - to give up, or not to give up and get inspired. I want to share with you a way how I get inspired when my inspiration stream feels dried. And as a bonus, on the end of this article you will find out, what some of the best designers do to get inspired.

Real Helvetica Experience - Holiday in Switzerland

30
Jul
2009

Last, almost three weeks, I spent a wonderful time with my lovely wife and daughter on a vacation.  We went to a beautiful country of Switzerland - which I as designer found to be the real Helvetica country. We enjoyed our time, resting, swimming, walking, playing, visiting many places, traveling almost 1000 kilometers in hunt for swimming pools, theme parks, indoor playgrounds. It was a refreshing and wonderful time.

As you will see on the pictures I took while walking, resting, traveling and shopping  - being used on trains, signs, advertisements, buildings, train stations, bus stops and many more places - Helvetica is real and big in Switzerland. Join me in my real Helvetica experience. View full size images in my flickr pool.
